To receive the designation of IMLA Local Government Fellow, applicants must satisfy a number of demanding and rigorous requirements, including passing a written exam and substantiating that they concentrate in local government law at least 40 percent of their practice. Designation of an IMLA Local Government Fellow lasts for five years and a Fellow must renew the designation by substantiating that they continue to practice in local government law.
