Dietz ordered to pay costs of missed trial May 17, 2008
Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Lloyd Suhr recommended Dietz repay the costs of the trial, which consisted of 25 jury fees for 16 potential jurors, 25 for a bailiff and mileage for jurors to get to the courthouse. The committee is calling for significant changes to "improve the lot of jurors in Ontario,'' including a substantial increase in remuneration.Jurors in Ontario are paid nothing for the first 10 days of a trial, $40 daily for days 11 to 49 and $100 a day after that.
