Nationally, 43 of the top 100 firms have delayed the start dates of new associates hired last year, according to American Lawyer magazine, and almost all large commercial law firms in Boston deferred the contracts of new recruits. Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky & Popeo, for instance, told graduates due to join the firm in January 2010 that they would not be starting until January 2012 at the earliest. (Boston Globe)
