    Considering a Likely Appeal in the Moussaoui Case  Apr 29, 2006
    A general principle of appellate law is that a party must be aggrieved from the judgment in order to appeal, and a sentence of life imprisonment without parole would represent a ruling in Moussaoui's favor at the sentencing phase. Nevertheless, if Moussaoui expresses a desire to appeal, his court appointed attorneys would need to file a notice of appeal, and then it would be up to the 4th Circuit to decide whether Moussaoui had standing to appeal from a sentence of life imprisonment.
